Who We Are

Sussex Community Search Team is an all-volunteer group of dedicated and enthusiastic people who are ready and willing to be called out by Sussex Police, neighbouring police forces or participants in the Sussex Resilience Forum. During incidents and emergencies, the SRF brings together emergency services, councils, utilities and other essential public and voluntary services to work in partnership to support the local community.

All members of Sussex Community Search Team (SCST) are trained in the latest search techniques, and are on call throughout the year, across all terrains and in all weather conditions.

The photograph above was taken after our Hillhouse exercise. Peter James, the bestselling and award-winning author of crime and thriller novels, joined the exercise as a guest searcher. He is the creator of the locally set DS Roy Grace series, which is also now an enthralling ITV drama starring John Simm.

Our trained volunteers live or work across or near Sussex, and can usually attend police call-outs at short notice. On scene, we work together seamlessly with the police and other search resources to conduct the most effective and efficient search possible.
